Trove is a private, invite-only reference library, currently operated by an individual, Rafael Cespedes, as a personal project. By using it you agree to what follows. It is short, and worth the two minutes.
Your invitation
Access is by invitation. Your invitation is for you — please do not share your sign-in or your capture keys. Access can be withdrawn, though outside of abuse there is no reason it would be, and you can export everything at any time.
What you save stays yours
You keep all rights to everything you put into Trove — the things you save, the notes you write, the quests you set. Trove claims no ownership of any of it and no licence to use it beyond what running the service requires: storing it, showing it back to you, searching it for you, and sending it to the services named in the privacy policy so it can be described and made searchable.
Nothing you save is used to train any model. Trove sends your content to model providers to get answers back, not to teach anything.
Saving other people’s work
Trove is for keeping references to work made by other people, and mostly stores links and pointers rather than copies. Still: you are responsible for what you save and for respecting the rights of whoever made it. Keep saved work to your own private reference and research use. If you are ever able to publish or share part of your library, that is where the responsibility gets sharper, not softer.
If you believe something in Trove infringes your copyright, write to the address at the bottom of this page and it will be removed.
Fair use of the service
Please do not:
- try to reach another person’s library, or probe the service for ways to
- automate capture at a volume that is really about exhausting the service rather than building a library
- upload anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to hold
- resell or redistribute access
Every save costs real money in model calls, paid by the person running Trove. That is the whole reason the guest list exists, and the reason this asks for reasonableness rather than setting a number.
What Trove promises, and does not
Trove is an early product. It is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. There is no uptime guarantee, no support commitment, and no promise that a feature that works today works tomorrow.
Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Export lives on your account screen and produces a single complete file. Bugs, outages and mistakes are possible, and to the maximum extent the law allows, Trove and its operator are not liable for lost data or any damages arising from using it.
That said, deleting your data is something only you can do here. There is no sweep, no expiry, and nothing that removes your library without you asking.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time from the account screen, which removes everything. Access may be ended if these terms are broken, or if Trove shuts down — in which case you would be told with enough notice to export.
Changes
These terms may change as Trove grows up — particularly if it becomes a company or starts charging. The date at the top changes with them, and material changes are emailed to invited users before taking effect.
